JabFung is a jazz quintet formed in Toronto, now based in Los Angeles, whose name is an amalgamation of its co-leaders, bassist Julian Anderson-Bowes and drummer Anthony Fung. Up front are three virtuosos with international reputations: Luis Deniz on alto saxophone, Rafael Zaldivar on piano and Adam O’Farrill on trumpet. The group’s second album, “In Real Life,” has just been released. Since 2014, they have had residencies at the Rex Hotel, collaborating with top Canadian and international artists.
