Anh earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from McGill University in 2012 and has continued to tour, perform and record in several different genres and areas. The TD Markham Jazz Festival is very proud to present saxophonist Jake Koffman as our last concert of 2018. If you are thinking the name has a familiar ring to it, Jake is the grandson of reedman and flutist Moe Koffman, whose hit song “Swinging Shepherd Blues” helped put Canadian jazz on the world map. Jake plays saxophones, flute and clarinet, and released his debut album in 2014, to widespread critical acclaim! Jake will be performing with BERNIE SENENSKY (organ), NATHAN HILTZ (guitar) and MORGAN CHILDS (drums).

The TD Markham Jazz Festival is very proud to present vocalist and saxophonist Elena Kapeleris, with Stacie McGregor on keys, Lauren Falls on bass and Mark Micklethwaite on drums. Elena Kapeleris is a Toronto-based saxophonist, vocalist, composer and bandleader. Her eclectic taste has led her from jazz to R&B to world music and more. Born and raised in Toronto, young Jesse moved to New York City to soak up the classic jazz scene. He performed at venues as varied as the storied Windows on the World on the 107th floor of the former World Trade Center and Lansky's Lounge in the East Village. Jesse has been a freelance guitarist since the late 1990s, recording with Jeff Healey, Don Thompson, Bernie Senensky, William Sperandei, Alex Pangman, Terra Hazelton, Tyler Yarema and Sophia Perlman, among others. He has performed at festivals across Canada, the United States, Mexico and France, including Festival Django Reinhardt Samois sur Seine. He recorded “Introducing Jesse Barksdale” in 2012. In a June 2002 interview with Vintage Guitar magazine, Jeff Healey said "I have a full-time guitar player named Jesse Barksdale, who, in my opinion, is the finest jazz guitar player, all-around, in this country."
