Born and raised in Toronto, young Jesse moved to New York City to soak up the classic jazz scene. He performed at venues as varied as the storied Windows on the World on the 107th floor of the former World Trade Center and Lansky’s Lounge in the East Village. Jesse has been a freelance guitarist since the late 1990s, recording with Jeff Healey, Don Thompson, Bernie Senensky, William Sperandei, Alex Pangman, Terra Hazelton, Tyler Yarema and Sophia Perlman, among others. He has performed at festivals across Canada, the United States, Mexico and France, including Festival Django Reinhardt Samois sur Seine. He recorded “Introducing Jesse Barksdale” in 2012.

In a June 2002 interview with Vintage Guitar magazine, Jeff Healey said “I have a full-time guitar player named Jesse Barksdale, who, in my opinion, is the finest jazz guitar player, all-around, in this country.”
