Q: Where exactly is the Markham Jazz Festival?
A: Performances are held at:
- The Markham Museum, northwest corner of 16th. Avenue and Markham Road (Hwy 48)…just north of Tim Hortons
- Unionville Main Street: north of Highway 7, west of Kennedy Road.
- Markham Farmers’ Market: Markham Road, 2 lights north of Highway 7 at Robinson Street
- Rouge Valley Retirement Residence on Sunday afternoon located on 16th Avenue just east of Markham Road.
- Amica at Swan Lake, 6360 Sixteenth Avenue, Markham
- Hot Spots are restaurants across Markham and Unionville that feature smaller jazz groups on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Q: Where do we park and what is the cost?
A: There are lots of parking spots behind Unionville Main Street (east side) and in the residential areas surrounding the street. The Markham Farmers’ Market has a parking lot adjacent to the Market. And the Markham Museum has lots of parking too. The good news is parking is FREE at all locations.
Q: Are alcoholic beverages available at the Festival?
A: Yes, nearly all the restaurants and pubs are fully licensed and many have outdoor patios for your enjoyment.
Q: Can we sit down to watch the shows?
A: Yes, many of the stage areas have seating available.
Q: What are the Festival times?
A: Unionville Main Street: Friday, August 17 from 7 pm to 10:30 pm; Saturday August 18 from noon to 11 pm; Sunday August 19 from 12 noon to 6 pm.
B: Markham Museum - Saturday, August 18 from noon to 7:30, and Sunday, August 19 from Noon to 5:30 pm
C: Markham Main Street: Saturday, 10 am to 3 pm
D: Rouge Valley Retirement Residence: Sunday 2:30 pm
E: Amica at Swan Lake: Sunday 2:30 pm
Q: Are there any special shows?
A: On Saturday, August 11th., there will be our 10th. Anniversary Gala, featuring pianist Oliver Jones. Tickets are $60 each, and space is very limited.
Q: What about Workshops?
A: We have a Vocals Jazz Workshop taking place on Saturday morning at the Varley Art Gallery with Heather Bambrick. Cost of the workshop is $10 for Students and $15 for adults. To register, visit our website at www.markhamjazzfestival.com and download an application form from the “Jazz Workshop” on the right hand menu.
Q: Are you selling t-shirts again this year?
A: Yes, we have a wonderful design created by Helen Walter of Capstone Communications. . These are available for a $20 donation to the Markham Jazz Festival. We will also be selling a few of last year’s T-Shirts for $5 each.
Booths will be at the Main Stages.
Q: Can I buy any of the performer’s CDs?
A: Some performer CDs will be available at the same booth as the t-shirts.
Q: Is Main Street Unionville closed to traffic?
A: Yes, but only on Saturday evening.
Q: Can I get there by bus?
A: Yes, to find exact directions, visit the York Region Transit website www.yorkregiontransit.com or the Toronto Transit Commission’s website www.ttc.ca.

Q: Is the Festival wheelchair accessible?
A: Yes, the festival is held on the street so most areas are accessible. The Museum is also wheelchair accessible.
Q: What if it rains?
A: The Markham Jazz Festival goes on, rain or shine.
Q: Where can I get an Entertainment Schedule?
A: The Festival brochure is available at most of the stores and restaurants on Main Street Unionville, Main Street Markham, Markham Village BIA, the Markham Museum, Sponsor locations, community centres, libraries, Information Markham (at the Civic Centre) and many area hotels including the Hilton Suites.
