Showcasing the next generation of Markham’s Jazz Stars

Do you want to play in this year’s Markham Jazz Festival?

Here’s your chance! The Markham Jazz Festival All-Star Big Band (MJF All-Stars) is open to all York Region high school students.

The MJF All-Stars will appear on the festival’s Main Stage on Saturday, August 15, at 5 pm!

For the audition, please prepare two jazz pieces (solo transcriptions, stage band parts, etc.) in contrasting styles (swing, ballad, latin, etc.); you will also be asked to sight read and improvise.

Audition requests must be received by Friday, June 26th. Auditions will be scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, with rehearsals beginning Tuesday, July 14th. There is a $10 audition fee – please bring this with you to your audition.

Scott Harrison, from Markham District High School, will be directing the MJF All-Stars. Remember – audition requests must be received by Friday, June 26th.
